A motorcyclist has died after a serious crash on the A38 today (Thursday, March 7). The road between the A374, Trerulefoot roundabout and the turn off for St Germans in Cornwall was closed for eight hours following the incident.
Police were alerted to the crash, involving a BMW motorbike and a white Peugeot Boxer van, about 7.05am. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the motorcyclist died after sustaining fatal injuries.
The rider, a man in his 60s from Saltash was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van was uninjured.
The A38 was closed for about eight hours to allow police to investigate. Road closures were in place to divert local traffic while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called around 7.05am following the incident involving a grey BMW motorcycle and a white Peugeot Boxer van near Trerulefoot roundabout. The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s from Saltash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The van driver was uninjured."
