A Devon beauty salon has won six big awards, including 'best salon'. Gigi Vi Beauty in Plymouth is a place that likes to do things the old-fashioned way and is enjoying huge success.
In total it's won big across six unique categories in two different competitions. Sophie Howard, who runs Gigi Vi Beauty, opened her venture in May 2023. Sophie, 36, and the team pride themselves on providing services for kids with SEN needs.
The mum-of-three is going to open another place for beauty treatments because her children's parties, dementia-friendly days and sensory sessions are so popular. Sophie has also won the "entrepreneur of the year" award for Plymouth in the National Beauty Awards.

She said: "Everything I do is for my three children, they are my focus. I want to show them that hard work pays off and for them to feel proud of me. I know they are proud and they are being shown real work and success."
"Since opening my first salon, Gigi Vi Beauty, in May last year, I knew what I wanted to achieve. I wanted to bring back old school beauty values and I knew I wanted to be different from other salons, and that's what I have done. It's been such a success in just a short time, that I am now opening my second beauty studio next door to accommodate our highly successful kids pamper parties and sensory sessions."
The salon also offers a Japanese head spa system in Plymouth The age-old head spa treatment - available to men and women - focuses on your hair and scalp.
Gigi Vi Beauty won in six categories for Plymouth in two competitions. In the Official UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2024, Gigi Vi Beauty salon won Best New Salon, Best Decor, Entrepreneur of the Year and Spotlight Salon of the Year.
In the National Beauty Awards, the salon won Best New Beauty and Social Media Content Creator. The next stage of the National Beauty Awards will see each regional winner, including Gigi Vi Beauty, put into a national competition for the UK finals.
Sophie said: "I feel extremely grateful and proud that my work and salon has been recognised, and been awarded and I aim to continue to progress, achieve and give a safe place for all SEN children and for adults using our dedicated beauty techniques and sensory sessions in our second beauty studio Gigi Vi Mini Beauty which will be opening soon."
"I could not have come this far without my head beauty therapist Kresh, she's a big part of my businesses and a great support personally and professionally. We make a great team and I'm thankful for our friendship."
Sophie said she wanted to "thank all clients for their support and kindness" since opening last year.
