Devon church up for auction could be completely transformed
The property has planning permission for conversion into two holiday lets
A charming, stone-built Methodist chapel in the quaint village of Whiddon Down, near Dartmoor and the A30, is up for auction until April 22. Built in 1906, this chapel has planning permission to be transformed into two holiday homes with two and six bedrooms each.
The chapel is brimming with historical features like a crenelated entrance hall, main chapel with leaded stained glass windows, wooden floors, and high curved ceilings. It also includes a kitchen/meeting room, side hallway, cloakroom/WC, an additional externally-accessed cloakroom and WC, and a boiler room with an oil-fired boiler.
There's plenty of parking space and a garden at the back. Stone pillars with a wrought iron gate and fencing lead up to the main arched door. Currently, there's right of access over this area to the burial ground, but plans have been submitted to create a separate access point. The church will keep the burial ground.
