It has opened for expressions of interest ahead of its next recruitment campaign.
The force advert states: “If you enjoy facing challenges and coming up with solutions to problems and want to keep your community safe whilst developing your own skill sets, then policing could be for you.
"As a police officer you’ll have to make difficult decisions every day. You’ll need empathy, common-sense and compassion as well as a desire to make a difference.
"Policing is challenging and rewarding and you will quickly realise no two days are the same."
Once training is finished there are a range of specialist routes open.
Qualifications
Degree holders
If you already have a degree level qualification you can join via the degree holder entry programme (DHEP).
You will follow a two year training plan, learning on the job from experienced colleagues with in-house training.
After 37 weeks you’ll reach independent patrol status and when you finish your training you’ll have earned a graduate diploma in Professional Policing Practice.
Your starting salary will be £24,177 and £25,269 in year two. Within seven years of joining the salary will be £40,128.
Non degree holders
You will follow the same route as those with degrees, but will follow a three year training plan.
Your starting salary is £18,450 and once you have achieved independent patrol status (approx week 37 from appointment) this will rise to £24,177 and £25,269 in year three. Within seven years of joining the salary will be £40,128.
Requirements
There is no age limit for completing an apprenticeship, but need to be 18 or over. You must hold a Level 2 qualification in math’s and English at grade C and above as well as a level 3 qualification.
You will get access to staff support groups, childcare vouchers, support from the occupational health support unit and the assistance programme covering a range of health and wellbeing.
Police officers must hold a full manual EU driving licence and resided in the UK for three continuous years immediately prior to application. If you have more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence and/or two or more motoring offences within the three years prior to the application date you may not be eligible.
You cannot apply if you are a member of the British National Party (BNP), National Front or Combat 18, and you must not have tattoos on your face, neck or hands or which could cause offence. Criminal offences will be assessed at application.
