Exeter dad Chris Newman has been remembered for his "loving, kind, gentle and funny" nature after he died unexpectedly while playing football earlier this month. His family's tribute to him is among more than 100 that have been left to lost loved ones from around Devon this week.
Every week, we announce the deaths of cherished members of our community by publishing the Devon death and funeral notices. In last week's notices, heartfelt tributes were left to 111 people from around the county, who had died.
The notices are initially published to funeral-notices.co.uk, providing a permanent online space for friends and family to remember their loved one. They can then add their own memories, photos and donations, should they wish to do so.
The most up-to-date death and funeral notices in Devon can be found here. Below are the notices from earlier this week:

Joe the much loved husband of Liz passed away on 11th January 2024. He had been battling vascular dementia for several years and we will miss him greatly. A devoted Husband, a wonderful Father and Grandad who would give his time and love so unselfishly. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. Joe will be fondly remembered by his wife Liz and his Son Andrew. Dad I could never pay you back for all you have done for me. You were not just my father, but a close friend and all could see. Dad you will find that this is just the start and the feelings that we have shared will live forever in my heart. Love You DAD The Measure Of A Man "Not how did he die, but how did he live. Not what did he gain, but what did he give. These are the units to measure the worth of a man, as a man, regardless of birth. Not what was his station, but had he a heart. And how did he play his God given part. Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer. To bring back a smile, to banish a tear. Not what was his church, not what was his creed. But had he befriended those really in need. Not what did a sketch in the newspaper say. But how many were sorry when he passed away."
