A horse has been rescued after it plummeted down a 6ft ditch in Devon. Crews from Buckfastleigh Fire Station raced to the scene today (October 6) where a vet was already in attendance.
The fire service says the horse jumped over a fence before landing in the ditch. A large animal rescue team was call to the scene while the owners worked to keep their beloved horse calm.
The large animal was sedated and safely lifted from the ditch. In a full statement on Facebook, a spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said: "Today we were called to help with a horse which had jumped a fence and landed in a six foot ditch.

"On arrival the officer in charge liaised with a vet who was already in attendance and the animals owners who were amazing at keeping him calm throughout, we prepared the scene awaiting for the arrival of the service large animal rescue team.
"The horse was then sedated and lifted from the ditch and reunited safe and sound with it's owner using our service telehandler."
