Emergency services had to be deployed to rescue a dog what had fallen from a cliff onto a beach in Devon last night. Coastguard rescue teams from Exmouth and Beer were called to Orcombe and Sandy Bay on Friday, April 5, after receiving reports that a dog had fallen from the clifftop.
Due to the amount of swell from the sea and high winds, it was determined that RNLI Exmouth were unable to assist in the rescue efforts. However, the coastguard was successfully able to access the beach via foot as soon as the tide allowed.
The beloved pet was left uninjured despite the fall and she could be seen walking on the beach below. After a huge effort from the coastguard teams, they were able to safely return the dog to her owners.

In a post shared on Facebook, a spokesperson for Exmouth coastguard rescue team said: "This evening Exmouth, Beer Coastguard Rescue Team and Area Officer S10A were paged to a dog over the cliffs between Orcombe and Sandy Bay.
"Luckily, despite her tumble she was seen to be active on the beach below. After assessing the risk RNLI Exmouth were unable to assist due to the amount of swell and high winds.
"Whilst Coastguard rope access was a possibility, the aforementioned conditions and risk led to the decision to access our friend on foot as soon as the tide allowed and she was returned to her waiting owners. Thanks to all teams involved and to the Lifeboat Crew for standing by on station in case the situation escalated."
