Exeter has been hit by flash-flooding this afternoon after torrential rain battered the South West. Footage taken across the city shows water levels rising at a rapid rate, turning roads into rivers and even seeping into shops.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is currently in place across most of the South of England and Wales, which is set to remain until 6pm today (September 17). More than a month's worth of rain could fall in less than 24 hours, according to the Met Office.
The Met Office has also issued an amber weather warning over Exeter and Taunton, as well the surrounding areas in east and mid Devon until 4pm today. This means that flooding of homes and businesses and transport disruptions is likely and some places could experience power cuts.

Locals have been capturing video footage of rain lashing down on the city this afternoon. One clip shows water rising so quickly that tides began to form at the junction between Exe Street and Bonhay Road, opposite the Mill on the Exe pub.
Video taken in the Alphington and Marsh Barton areas show the moment the heavy rain hit. One motorist can even be seen turning their car around to avoid becoming trapped in a deep puddle on Marsh Barton road. A puddle also formed inside the nearby Go Outdoors, which one witness says was a result of water seeping in via the roof, rather than the door.
Alphington Road is also flooded, including at the busy Seven Stars junction, where photos show vehicles creating large waves and kicking up spray. A fire engine can be seen in the area but it's unknown if this is to assist with the flooding.
