An important A-road in Devon has been closed this evening following a multi-vehicle crash which has triggered a spillage on the carriageway. The A381 Wolborough Street, in Newton Abbot, has been closed in both directions between Steppes Meadow and the A382 Wolborough Way this evening, Thursday, January 11. Google Maps is showing significant congestion in the area along the A381 Wolborough Street and Totnes Road. It is unclear whether there are been any injuries, nor how long the clean-up operation will take.

Police statement
Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a van and two cars on Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot, at around 6.20pm on Thursday 11 January.
"There were no reports of any injuries. Local road closures were put in place.
"Once the vehicles had been recovered, the road was reopened at around 8.40pm."
