Huge winds are set to cause some chaos across Devon today amid a Met Office weather warning. The Exeter-based forecaster has warned of 55mph gusts which are likely to cause significant disruption in the region.
The entire South West has been included in the warning, but the coastlines are expected to be among the worst hit by today's band of bad weather. Devon locals have been told to 'take care'.
Large waves and seas spray are likely to affect the region and weather forecasters have said disruption is likely to road, air, rail and ferry travel. Power cuts are also possible, with two already reported in the county.
The Met Office said: "A depression will move east just to the north of Scotland through Monday and will bring a swath of strong winds to Northern Ireland, Wales and much of England. Gusts of between 40 and 45 mph are expected widely inland with isolated gusts as high as 50 to 55 mph on exposed coasts and near to heavier showers. This is likely to lead to some disruption and longer journey times."
