Almost three million people believe they would win the Grand National without any previous training according to a study by Paddy Power Bingo. It found women are more confident they could win the race, with the people of Birmingham and London the most convinced they could do it.
Those in Leicester closely followed by Geordies also think they could beat the professionals.
Paddy Power Bingo spokesperson Rachael Kane said: “We’re all for a bit of self-confidence, but the number of Brits who believe they are on the same level as – or even better than – a professional trained jockey is eye-opening.
“It’s good to back yourself, but I think the 2.7 million Brits may need to have a rethink if they honestly believe they’ll be taking home the prize at Aintree!”
