A family-run seafood restaurant has opened at a pub in an award-winning Devon village. Joe Keating and his wife Jacqueline have launched JnJ’s Seafood and Grill at Ye Olde Globe.
The pub is in Berrynarbor, which has been honoured in numerous Britain in Bloom Awards and Best Kept Village competitions. And Jenny Cannon-Smith, who reopened the business in 2022, called it a "perfect match".
The pub and restaurant will operate independently with Joe running the food side while Jenny concentrates on the bar. And the pub, which dates back to the 13th Century, has been given a blue and white-themed makeover inside to coincide with the new launch.

Joe, from Ilfracombe, has been passionate about seafood since childhood days spent line fishing. He was initially self-taught as a chef under the guidance of his mother and father, who share their son’s love of “all things fish". In recent years, Joe gained further experience as a chef locally, specialising in preparing high-quality speciality seafood.
He said: “With the sea on our doorstep, people expect to find restaurants specialising in seafood, yet other than local fish-and-chip shops, there are few, if any, locally. Initially we started with the idea of providing pre-prepared barbeque fish meals for locals and self-catering holidaymakers from a professional kitchen I was creating at home.
"When the opportunity of taking over a fully-equipped established kitchen at the Globe arose, we grabbed at it; it just all made sense."
Joe and Jacqueline will initially serve food at the Globe on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday lunchtimes ahead of the holiday season. Their menus also include meat and vegetarian dishes, with all fresh produce sourced locally.

Barbeque takeaway fish meals will be available from Easter. On other nights, the Globe will host street food vendors offering a variety of food styles.
Jenny said: "In today’s fiercely-competitive hospitality market, customers expect pubs to provide good quality food and this is a perfect match. Working independently, our two enterprises complement each other, with Joe taking full responsibility for the kitchen and food sales, while I run the bar side of the pub."
