In a ‘hair-raising’ act of charity, Nick Miller has cut off his big beard to raise £1,200.
Nick spent five months growing his hair for the cut.
Miller, a member of the charitable organisation known as the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, or ‘Buffs’ for short, said: “I grew my hair and then had it cut off. I’m not finding any difference now." He added, "We do a lot of charity work behind the scenes. A member of our lodge is visually impaired, and he makes use of the Mid Devon Messenger. It was his idea when I said I was going to have it cut off for charity, and he asked if I would do it for them, and that’s how it all came about.”
The Mid Devon Messenger, a local service that makes a significant difference to people who often live alone, was the beneficiary of Miller’s fundraising efforts. Helen McIntosh from the Mid Devon Messenger expressed her gratitude, saying, “We’re blown away by the amount that’s been raised and by Nick and the brilliant idea he had to grow his beard long and then have it all cut off."
She continued, "We have a active team of volunteers, and they work hard to bring this service to everyone, so I thank everyone for their generosity. Nick is a star.”
