Persimmon Homes South West has partnered with LiveWest to provide ten new homes at the Mill Gardens site in Cullompton.
The firm has handed over the keys for ten homes among its latest tranche of properties for affordable rent and shared ownership – four and six, respectively.
LiveWest, who operate across the South West are working with local authorities to ease pressure on their housing waiting lists.
The homes are the first ten of 14 properties that will be handed over as part of the initial phase of development at Mill Gardens.
The site has recently been celebrated, being named as one of Persimmon’s three finalists for the housebuilder’s Construction Excellence Award, with the winner due to be announced at the end of April.
As part of its mission to deliver a positive and lasting legacy in the areas in which it builds, the five-star developer has also donated to nearby organisations such as Uffculme School and Wellington Warm Places through its Community Champions scheme.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes South West managing director Dan Heathcote, said: “Persimmon is determined to leave a positive community legacy where we build, and one key element of our offering is the transfer of quality new homes to local housing association partners.
“I am pleased to say that we have transferred most of our high-quality homes designated for housing need in the area, and we hope this significant community contribution will help alleviate pressure on the local housing list.
“We are pleased to partner with LiveWest to deliver this increase in provision for the people of Cullompton and nearby as we continue to make progress on this popular site delivering quality homes for local people.”
Gareth Jones, development manager for LiveWest, added: “LiveWest is happy to work with partners, like Persimmon, who are helping to deliver mixed and well-designed communities that cater for a range of housing needs.
“LiveWest is committed to maximising the delivery of affordable housing across Devon. The 20 affordable homes that we are delivering on this site are a great example of what collaboration can achieve on a development site, the two companies working together for the wider benefit of the community in delivering the affordable homes.
“Affordability is such a key issue now, particularly with the increased cost of living, so it’s great to be able to provide the mix of shared ownership and rented affordable homes, the first ten of which are being handed over to us during March.
“LiveWest is committed to supporting communities and we hope these new affordable homes have all the elements needed to help a mixed community thrive.”
