A brand new bar and restaurant space is set to open at a picturesque beach in South Devon in just a few weeks' time. It's part of a major refurbishment at the privately-owned beach.
The refurbishment project at Blackpool Sands started in February, as the owners plan to expand the dining experience for visitors. The beach is already home to its own café and takeaway facility, which is currently closed for the revamp.
The new bar and restaurant will offer table service, with food and drink sourced from West Country producers or those who are committed to reducing their environmental impact. The menu will focus on seasonality and sustainability and will be inspired by the sea.
There will also be events hosted in the newly refurbished area, including fashion shows, live music performances and themed gatherings. Music sessions, known as Apres Sea Saturday, are expected to resume in the summer.

The owners say they are hoping to create a "relaxed and family-friendly ambiance", which will feature bamboo, rustic wooden furnishings and plenty of greenery. There will be custom-made furniture, lighting and interior elements, with the design work having been carried out by a local design team.
Blackpool Sands is privately owned by the Newman family, who began working with Charlie and Zuzanna Deuchar last year to add a whole host of new features to the beach. This included a new takeaway venture, a revamped beach shop and a water sports outlet. Charlie and Zuzanna are now overseeing the bar and restaurant project.
Charlie said: "We are thrilled to embark on this journey with the Newman family to make Blackpool Sands a premier destination for beachside dining. The vision is to create a destination that not only showcases the natural beauty of the South Devon coast but also offers an unparalleled dining experience for everyone to enjoy."
Once the bar and restaurant is open, visitors will still be able to enjoy takeaway food from 9am to 5pm everyday and extended opening hours during the summer. It's expected that the new bar and restaurant will be welcoming customers in May.
