Police shut down a rave in Cornwall after receiving reports that revellers may be gathering at a site used for an illegal gathering two years ago. Late last night (March 30), police were alerted to huge convoys of vehicles that had been seen around North and East Cornwall. It was reported that the vehicles were headed to Davidstow where an illegal rave took place in June 2022.

The 2022 rave was reportedly attended by thousands of people, with music blaring from the speakers until well into the morning. It took nearly three days for the event to come to an end, with reports of litter left behind and noise disturbances to locals. Police attended the scene and made multiple arrests after three officers were assaulted.

During last night's incident, police officers blocked the surrounding roads to prevent more people from gathering. One officer's car was reportedly rammed by a vehicle that was trying to force its way into the site.

Many vehicles were turned away from the suspected unlicensed music event and vans that were carrying music equipment were seized. Police say they were able to shut the rave down before it began.

Local Policing Superintendent Rob Youngman said: "We know first-hand the impact that these types of events have on local communities and how disruptive they can be.

"Last night we acted quickly on information that was coming into us and deployed a range of resources across the area in order to stop this event from taking place here.

"I'm grateful to those who reported the information to us and to the officers who acted quickly and robustly to prevent the situation from escalating."
