A third national lockdown is upon us and our favourite pubs and restaurants have closed once more.

Even though many of us will be looking for healthy alternatives, diets and avoiding eating out too much after Christmas, our beloved local pub grub is sure to be missed - especially as we find ourselves stuck inside again.

But if you feel like you need a break from the diet - or even just from cooking - you can find peace in the knowledge that some fine establishments in Devon are here for you.

Offering proper pub grub, chef specials, desserts and even something for those taking part in Veganuary, you can now get lockdown takeaway from all of the pubs below.

The Black River Inn

The Black River Inn in Black Torrington is offering items from their Indian menu for takeaway or delivery - on Fridays and Saturdays.

This weekend (Friday 8 and Saturday 9 January) dishes include:

1. Goan prawn kaldinho (ginger chilli, coconut)

2. Chicken Dopiaza

3. Lamb Rogan Josh

4. Paneer and chick peas Saag (spinach, mixed spices, ginger and yoghurt)

All of the above £7.50 per menu item. All come with a homemade flatbread and steamed rice

Added extras:

5. Poppadoms with kachumber and raiita and lime pickle

6. Pilau rice

8. Onion Bhaji

Takeaways from The Foxhound are available Thursdays-Saturdays, 5pm-8pm, with Sunday lunch between 12pm and 2pm.

Every Friday The Foxhound has a Friday night special which, this week (January 8) is pheasant breast stuffed with pate and wrapped with bacon.

The Ring of Bells in Cheriton Fitzpaine is offering regular updated takeaway menus each week and is focusing this months menus on some more healthy, carb free dishes to help you on your path to achieving your resolutions!

The Dartmouth Arms

The Dartmouth Arms says its team are well rehearsed for the latest lockdown and is offering a free local delivery of some iconic dishes, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening from 5pm.

Meat59 on Magdalen Road is offering lockdown takeaway between 5pm-late every Thursday to Saturday.

It's also offering vegan versions of staple dishes for anyone taking part in Veganuary this month.

There are a number of other Meat59 sites around the county, but you can always find this famed burger bar on UberEats and Yeti - perfect to sideline that fear of having to cook when things get extra stressful while stuck inside.

Agricultural Inn

The Agricultural Inn is introducing its "Agi Supper Club" which will see chefs prepare weekly three course menus and deliver them to your door.

All you'll need to do is heat up, serve and tuck in!

Orders have to be placed by 5pm every Wednesday and the first deliveries will take place on Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16 (and then every Friday and Saturday thereafter during lockdown).

The Royal Oak has been offering Sunday roast deliveries throughout the pandemic - even when Devon moved into Tier 3.

Now that the country has moved into a complete lockdown, the Royal Oak will continue to deliver its legendary roast dinners to anyone in the areas of Exeter, Exminster, Starcross, Kennford, Alphington and Dawlish.

Choose from roast beef, roast chicken, roast pork or even a veggie nut roast with desserts including sticky toffee pudding, lemon tart and chocolate rocky road, all served with custard.

One course costs £7.49 and with a pud will set you back £10.49 (excluding delivery charges).

The Millbrook Inn in South Pool has its very own takeaway menu, offering Friday night fish & chips, sausage and mash, fish pie and mushroom risotto or Sunday roast, priced at £12 and £15 respectively.

The Cridford Inn in Trusham has been offering a Big Vegan Thai Takeout on a Friday, with Saturday evening and Sunday lunch meal options too.

Rock Garden on Fleet Street closed its doors when Devon was placed into Tier 3 and again now the country is in its third lockdown.
