Tickets for a Devon event giving people the chance to get naked in public, all for a good cause, have been “selling like hot cakes.” But there’s still time to sign up for the Naked Heart Walk at Powderham Castle near Exeter if you’re quick.

The event is part of a series of Naked Heart Walks taking place at stunning locations across the UK to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. The one at Powderham Castle is being held on Saturday, May 20.

A guest post on the website of British Naturism, which is organising the Naked Heart Walks, confirmed that tickets for the Powderham Castle event were selling well and said: “The owner of the venue is just as excited as we are. Charlie Courtenay, The Earl of Devon, said: ‘We are proud to play host to the British Naturism Naked Heart Walk at Powderham in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

“The ancient shaded paths and tracks of the Georgian Woodland Garden provide a secluded and yet spectacular route in support of this worthy cause. It is a particular pleasure to welcome such a diverse group of participants and to provide them with a safe space to strengthen hearts and get closer to nature.’”

Thousands of people across the UK are expected to strip off their clothes and stroll around the grounds of gorgeous gardens, stately homes and castles to raise funds for the charity this year. Organisers say they will experience the exhilaration of being nude in the great outdoors, boosting their mental and physical health, reducing their stress and having a lot of fun.

The number of Naked Heart Walks has more than doubled this year. To make the decision to participate easier, this year’s walks are clothing-optional. No doubt some clothed walkers will have stripped off by the end.

The Naked Heart Walk at Powderham Castle is a three-mile circular walk. It will take around one hour and 30 minutes, depending on pace. It can be rather challenging in places so a less challenging, shorter option is available. Stout footwear is advisable.

Ticket sales close at 11.59pm on Friday, May 5. For tickets, click here. The event is for over 18s only.

There is free onsite parking for 250 cars. There’s also a cafe (pre-order only), and nearby naturist campsites. All participants will receive a BHF medal at the end of the walk, a fundraising pack and regular emails to keep you on track, full support from the BHF to help you reach your target, a bottle of water and a snack. There’s also an option to purchase an afternoon tea.
