A woman has suffered a broken arm after she slipped and fell down a very steep and muddy track above Whitsand Beach. The incident took place at around 1pm on Thursday when Brixham Coastguard Rescue Team (BCRT), Torbay and Paignton were called to the scene.
According to BCRT, the walker was stuck on the very slippery track, making the rescue quite tricky. A helicopter was called to winch the woman to safety.
After rescuing the walker, coastguard teams lowered a rope technician down to the woman's partner and a paramedic, bringing them back to the top. In a full statement on Facebook, a BCRT spokesperson said: "Brixham Coastguard Rescue Team Torbay and Paignton were tasked to an injured walker near Whitsand beach in Torquay."

They added: "A woman slid down a very steep muddy track above Whitsand beach and sustained a suspected broken arm.
"Due to the steepness of the track and it being very slippery, a Helicopter was used to winch the women to safety. The helicopter winch was made more of a challenge due to the tree cover in the area.
"Once the women was safely recovered the coastguard teams lowered a rope technician down to recover the women's partner and a paramedic back safely to the top."
