Devon native Cosmo Jarvis stars as the main protagonist in the new FX drama Shōgun. With a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the mini-series is being hailed as "the next Game of Thrones" and is streaming on DisneyPlus.
Based on James Clavell's popular novel of the same name, the television adaptation showcases the brutality of feudal Japan in 1600. The complex story full of sex and violence follows "the collision" of Lord Toranaga, a military chief fighting for his life, English sailor John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis) captured by Samurai, and Lady Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but dishonourable family ties.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, critics claim the series is "visually sumptuous and enriched with cultural verisimilitude. It is an "epic adaptation that outdoes the original."
