A woman has sustained serious head injuries after a collision at Newton Abbot railway station’s car park. The incident happened at 4.35pm on Tuesday, April 9, and led to the car park being cordoned off.
The collision on Station Road involved a Range Rover and a female pedestrian. The woman in her 70s sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Torbay Hospital.
The station car park was closed for several hours following the incident. At the same time, there was an incident which involved the concern for the welfare of a man who had fallen over at Newton Abbot Railway Station. He did not require medical treatment.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at 4.35pm on Tuesday, April 9, following a serious collision on Station Road, in Newton Abbot.
“A Range Rover was in collision with a female pedestrian within the grounds of the town railway station car park. The woman, in her 70s and Teignmouth, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Torbay Hospital.
“The station car park was closed. Devon and Cornwall Police handed the scene to British Transport Police around 7.50pm.”
