Will Young has been announced as a headliner for the Party on the Pitch taking place at Exeter’s Sandy Park stadium. Natalie Imbruglia and Corinne Bailey Rae are also performing at the Sandy Park event on the same day – Saturday, June 24.

Party on the Pitch is being held over two weekends. Ronan Keating, Blue and East 17 have already been revealed as the stars taking to the stage on Saturday, June 17. More big-name acts are set to be revealed over the coming days.

Two-time Brit Award winner and former University of Exeter student Will Young tweeted his excitement at the news today. He wrote: “Having lived for three years in Exeter, I am so excited to return for this celebration of 20 years of being in music with all the hits from 'Evergreen' to 'Jealousy', 'Who am I' to 'Grace' and everything in between! Tickets are on sale 10am tomorrow. See you there x”

The singer-songwriter shot to fame in 2002 when he was crowned the inaugural winner of ITV’s Pop Idol. His double A-sided debut single Anything is Possible / Evergreen, released just weeks after his triumph, became the fastest-selling debut single in the UK.

Since then, Will has gone on to achieve worldwide success, undertaking numerous concert tours and earning multiple honours, as well as estimated world sales of over eight million albums.

Supporting Will is Corinne Bailey Rae, best known for her 2006 single Put Your Records On. Her debut album saw her become the fourth female British act in history to have her first album debut at number one. Since then, she has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and three Brit Awards, as well as winning two MOBO Awards.

Also supporting Will is one of Australia’s most loved pop artists, Natalie Imbruglia, whose chart-topping smash hit Torn is the most played song on Australian radio since 1990. She has released six studio albums, and won eight ARIAs, two Brit Awards, one Billboard Music Award and received three Grammy nominations. She played Beth Brennan in Neighbours through the 1990s and won the third series of the UK version of The Masked Singer.

Today’s announcement is part of the Party on the Pitch concerts which will see the Exeter venue welcome some of music’s biggest names to the region as it opens its doors for live outdoor concerts for the first time ever.
